Last month we took a mini-vacation to Newport Coast, CA. My parents were using their time share and invited us to come out for a few days.

The second day there we went to Balboa Island and took the ferry over to the Balboa Peninsula.

We walked around, ate lunch, the girls took a ride on the carousel, then we went to the candy store and let them pick out whatever they wanted. They both chose huge lollipops. I love how something so simple can make them so happy.

There were so many gorgeous homes on Balboa Island, but this one stuck out for obvious reasons. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a picture in front of it

We went to Crystal Cove State Beach the next day. Don't be jealous, but they filmed some of the movie Beaches there:)

This poor guy got sunburned on his face the day before. He was so swollen. It was so bad that he got boils (2nd degree). I felt like the world's worst mom for letting it happen. Despite what it looked like, he was only in the sun when we were taking pictures. It took no time at all for our white baby to burn. Lesson learned....so I reapplied sunblock every 15 minutes while we were at the beach!

The girls had so much fun building sand castles....and trampling them.

They also had fun standing at the edge of the water waiting for a wave....then they'd run as fast as they could (and screamed as loud as they could) so it didn't "catch them". They probably could have done that all day.

All in all, it was a fun trip. The girls keep asking when we are going back. It was beautiful, so hopefully soon:)
