The girls took swim lessons this year for 4 weeks. They went Mon.-Thurs. for a half an hour a day. Let's just say it was quite an experience for all involved! The first two weeks they were terrified to get in the water in fear that they would get their face wet (they're taught to swim with their face in). The third week was a little better and they weren't scared to get in the water, just afraid to be completely submerged. They would put their face in by themselves (just their face, not their whole head...and only for like 2 seconds). During the fourth week they really made some progress. They were jumping into the water from the step and they learned how to hold their breath pretty well. Audrey can even swim under water!

Their favorite thing about swim lessons was that their friend Justin was in their class. Justin's Grandma, Ms. Sylvia was their teacher. They are practicing kicking straight on the step in the picture above and in the picture below Justin is splashing them. Despite how it may look, they liked it.

Swimming to Ms. Sylvia
Their second favorite thing about swim was Cupcake Day! The last day of the session Ms. Sylvia made cupcakes for their class.

Below are two videos of Audrey swimming to Ms. Sylvia. I think it is cute how in first she is proud that she went "far away". The third video is of Charlotte. She hasn't quite got the kicking down yet. She kicks sideways instead of straight so it really doesn't take her anywhere. The fact that she jumping into the water knowing that she is going under and that she holds her breath and at least tries is all the progress I needed. If you could have seen both of them the first and second week, you would be just as proud as we are. We are definitely doing it again next year!
